“Youngsters matter – youngsters vote” Campaign

CTR – Romanian Youth Council in partnership with the European Institute for Participatory Democracy – Qvorum have the pleasure of inviting you to the National Conference for Youth Participation – a launching event for the “Youngsters matter – youngsters vote” Campaign on February 18, 2014, at Hotel Minerva, Himalaya chamber, starting with 1 PM. (Gheorghe Manu Street, no. 2-4, district 1, Bucharest).

The event will bring together representatives of the non-governmental and youth environment, as well as public authorities in the field of youth participation. The conference aims to be a space where you may promote any other initiatives that are meant to inform and encourage young people to participate in European elections in May 2014.

The conference is part of the project “National Information and Awareness Campaign, Youngsters matter – Youngsters vote” or League of Young Voters Romania implemented by the CTR Youth Council in partnership with the Permanent Electoral Authority, the European Institute for Participatory Democracy – Qvorum, as well as a series of governmental and non-governmental actors, between January and June 2014, co-financed by the Youth in Action Programme of the European Commission, Action 4.5.

The campaign aims to encourage active participation of young people in the democratic life both in Europe and nationally, in particular by encouraging their participation in the European Parliament elections, as properly informed and responsible citizens.

During the campaign, a series of national and regional activities will be implemented as so:

  • Creating a community of Young Ambassadors for Participation – League of Young Ambassadors for Participation: in Romania, there will be 16 young volunteers for selection, acting as multipliers and regional promoters of the campaign. Also, there will be two trainings implemented for them.
  • 1  National Caravan of Participation where there will be public events (informative seminars, awareness activities and press conferences) in the eight development regions in Romania, for aproximately two days, plus the invitation for other NGOs to conduct activities under the campaign;
  • 4 major debates with young people and candidates for the European Parliament in four cities in Romania (Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara and Iași);

Note! For people outside Bucharest, transport costs will be reimbursed at a rate of 70% after completion of the project (for participants aged up to 30 years in accordance with the financier rules).
