Alongside European Institute for Participative Democracy – Qvorum, the civil society from Bacău achieved a better understanding of its rights and responsibilities in relation to public administration.
The free training sessions from the project “Efficient Mechanisms of collaboration with public authorities” facilitates the shaping of an informed collaboration between civil society and local administration. A relationship which may be a true catalyst for the thousands of initiated projects in Bacău.
Students, pupils, teachers, representatives of non-governmental organizations experienced how it feels to be a local counselor and to effectuate the budget for their own locality, through a role-play game, where they stated amendments upon the local budget law and they identified problems within the community which are important for them as citizens, to be solved. Also, the stages of a public consultation explained to the participants.
At the end of the program, the participants, as active citizens, shaped in a deposition, pros and cons arguments referring to the measure proposed by the municipality of Bacău for the project regarding the arrangement of the leisure island from the locality.
Next week the round table “Ideas Lab for Bacău!” follows, between local officials and active citizens regarding solutions to make the public administration more open and transparent.
